Disney Cruise Dining - Pixar Night Dinner Review

Day five of our Alaska cruise was Pixar night! The ship’s lobby was all decked out with signs representing all of the Disney Pixar movies, there was a Pixar dance party, and dinner had a Pixar theme. All three main dining rooms serve the same thing on theme nights. The head servers, how are in charge of a whole section, had cow print bow ties and sheriffs badges!

On this particular night we were back at Parrot Cay and it was another dress up night, this time semi-formal.

Now onto the food! To start off we sampled three appetizers.

The Emeryville Cocktail consisted of warm water lobster, shrimp, and crab leg over a slightly spicy lime tomato dressing. The dressing added a slight crunch to the dish, it had bites of cucumber in, as well as good tomato flavor that complimented the seafood. It was topped with a dollop of sour scream the helped to cut through the other flavors and to add a slight creaminess.

Sid’s Mexican Fire Roasted Tomato Soup had a smoke-y tomato flavor with a hint of lime. The black beans in the soup added texture and the sour cream added a creaminess. The soup was served with tortilla chips that were great for dipping!

The kid’s Chicken Noodle Soup was full of chicken, veggies, and noodles. The broth had great veggie flavor, and the chicken and veggies we nicely, but not over, cooked.

After finishing those, and making sure we had plenty of room we had four entrees between the three of us.

The Ratatouille had a flaky puff pastry base with a delicious combination of eggplant, tomatoes, onions, peppers, and zucchini on top. The dish was served on top of a tomato confit and basil sauce that was creamy and complimented the dish well.

Sheriff Woody’s Favorite Marinated Delmonico Rib Eye Steak was cooked to temperature as ordered and had good marbling that made it so that the meat “melted in your mouth”. It was served with a sweet potato gratin that was nicely crispy on top, collard greens, and sweet baby carrots.

The Roasted Pork Tenderloin was incredibly tender and well-seasoned. The cauliflower puree had a distinct truffle flavor, but it wasn’t over-powering and was super smooth. The mushrooms paired well with the rest of the dish, and the red win reduction paired well with the pork.

The kid’s Turkey Meatloaf was very moist, which is hard to do with turkey and it paired well with the slightly sweet carrot ketchup. It was served with steamed broccoli and sweet fresh fruit.

And finally, for dessert we sampled three sweet offerings

The Warm Apple and Custard Cobbler was much like an apple bread pudding. The apples were nicely cooked and the custard rounded out the dish. It was topped with vanilla ice cream which paired well with the dish. What is better than a warm apple dessert with vanilla ice cream? The ice cream was topped with a spoon made out of dough!

The Sweet Temptations was a trio of desserts. The Opera Slice was a layer cake of chocolate with coffee cream and Bailey’s sauce. Jessie’s White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle Cake was creamy cheesecake with white chocolate and raspberry with a coconut macaroon crust. Poached Bosc Pear Almond Tart was a fluffy almond tart with a crisp bottom. The top had chunks of juicy poached pear.

The Mr. Potato Head Spring Rolls had a creamy and sweet fruit filling that consisted mostly of mango and banana in a crispy spring roll shell. The rolls paired quite well with the sweet and creamy black cherry ice cream and the raspberry sauce that they were served with.

Overall, the menu offerings on Pixar night were quite delicious and I recommended it to anyone sailing with Disney!
