Disney Cruise Dining - Alaska Theme Night Dinner
The
third theme night was Alaska night. On this particular night, when all three restaurants
serve Alaska inspired food, to include fish and elk, we ate at Triton’s.
On
this evening we sampled three appetizers.
The
Cheese and Carrot Soufflé was fluffy with great cheese flavor and with hints of
carrot. It paired well with the wine and cream sauce. The top of the Soufflé
was deliciously flaky and made you anticipate greatness from the contents
below, which did not disappoint. The dish was served with a delicious small
side salad with spinach as well as shaved carrots which paired nicely with the dish
and served as a good palate cleanser prior to the main course.
The
Alaskan King Crab Legs were delicious and really tasted as though it had been
freshly caught and plated. The only issue was that there was not a cracking
device which made getting to the sweet and succulent meat a little harder.
The
Yellow Pea Soup was creamy and full of pea flavor with hints of bacon in it.
When
it came to entree’s our table of three sample four of them
The
Oven-Baked Lobster Tail was cooked to perfection. The lobster was served in the
shell which for Howard was a little daunting when it after since he has never
really had to take lobster out of the shell. However, the wait staff removed
the meat and spooned warm butter on the top before a fork could even be lifted.
The butter tasted as though it penetrated lobster flesh and made it even more succulent.
It was served with sun-dried, lemon pesto mashed potatoes that were creamy and
full of flavor.
The
Juniper Spiced Elk Tenderloin was Moist and tender. It was not too game-y and
paired well with the sweet black currant sauce. It was served with carrots which
were soft but still had a slight bite to them which made them perfect. The Brussel
sprouts that also accompanied it were flavorful and were perfectly cooked.
Finally there were tiny noodles that were served with a delicious sauce which
paired with the meal.
The
Grilled Alaskan Halibut was presented elegantly, however, when actually sampling
the fish we found that it was slightly dry. The flavor was very good, though. It was
served with asparagus and potatoes. The asparagus was very good for someone
that doesn’t like it and had a good bite to it. The potatoes were cooked
perfectly and had a good amount of butter which made them rich and creamy.
The
Kid’s Pork Tenderloin was very moist and tender. It was served with green beans
which had a slight bite to them. The rice was flavorful but the taste was not too
over powerful to distract from the star of the meal. The final accompaniment to
the meal was an apple sauce that tasted like fresh crisp apples with no
additional spices needed.
After
all that food we still somehow found room for dessert.
The
Taste of Alaska Sweet Temptations was a trio of three taste desserts. The Trio
of Chocolate Truffle Torte is a chocolate lover’s dessert and was full of,
well, chocolate flavor. It was smooth and creamy with a crunchy crust on the
bottom. The Poached Pear Hazelnut Cake was a soft cake full of hazelnut flavor
with bits of poached pears throughout. The Vanilla Panna Cotta was creamy and
had good vanilla flavor. It was topped with fresh fruit that included strawberry,
pineapple, and blueberry.
The
Sticky Fig and Walnut Pudding was amazing. When the dish first gets to the table
it instantly reminds you of Christmas time, and the taste is no different
because of the great nutmeg flavor. The pudding had great fig flavor with chunks
of walnut and the slightest hint of nutmeg that made you feel warm all over. The
dish was served with a vanilla sauce and brandy cream which was able to cut
through the sweetness but was not too harsh.
Overall
Alaska night was amazing and I can’t wait to experience it sometime in the
future.
