A Look at Regal Eagle Smokehouse
If you know us, or have read posts from us before, you know that we love Disney food! For months before a trip to Disney World we plan where we’re going to eat (gotta get those ADRs!), and then when the trips get closer, we start looking at menus and thinking about what we might like to eat. We even think about what snacks we might want to get so that we maximize our snack credits when we use the Disney Dining Plan.
So, last year when it was announced that Regal Eagle Smokehouse was going to open in the American Adventure Pavilion, we were excited. We love Epcot – the rides, World Showcase, and of course getting to enjoy food from around the world. A new quick service restaurant would give us something new to love about the park as well!
When we took our trip last February, we only had one day to spend at the parks, so we only went to Hollywood Studios to visit Galaxy’s Edge. On my latest trip in October, though, I spent a day at Epcot and got to eat at Regal Eagle! Here are my thoughts.
Atmosphere
Regal Eagle Smokehouse is located in the American Adventure Pavilion at Epcot. It took over the space that used to be Liberty Inn. Like the whole Pavilion, the style is Colonial America. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and if you sit outside, you’ll have a view of World Showcase, and the huge barbecue pit!
Inside, the décor celebrates the Muppets and barbecue. The theme is fun, and gets you in the mood to eat barbecued meats!
Ordering
When I visited the parks most dining locations were only accepting Mobile Orders to facilitate physical distancing. I placed my order on the My Disney Experience App and went to pick it up when I received the alert that it was ready.
During non-pandemic times, there are ordering stations inside, and you can also Mobile Order for less of a wait.
The Food
As the name, the barbecue pit, and the décor imply, Regal Eagle Smokehouse is all about barbecue. The menu includes: Memphis Dry-rub Pork Ribs, BBQ Burger, Slice Texas Brisket Sandwich, Kansas City Smoke d Half Chicken, Cheeseburger, North Carolina Chopped Smoked Pork Butt, Power Greens Salad, Power Greens Salad with Chicken, and BBQ Jackfruit Burger.
Sides include Baked Beans with Burnt Ends, Seasoned French Fries, Beer-battered Onion Rings, Creamy Coleslaw, and Macaroni and Cheese.
There is also a variety of barbecue sauces to choose from. When I was there the sauces were being handed out at the counter in little containers. During non-pandemic times you can get your sauces in the dining area.
My Experience
I placed my lunch order on the My Disney Experience App and it was ready within two minutes of me saying that I was there. Once I received the notification that my food was ready, I proceeded to the Mobile Order pickup up location, a Cast Member checked to make sure that I had received the notification, and I went inside. There was no one else at the pick-up windows, so I got my food, and free glass of water (It was HOT that day), and I made my way to a table.
It was peak lunch time, 12:30PM, but only a few other tables were occupied inside the restaurant. I took a few photos, and then sat down to enjoy my lunch.
I ordered the Sliced Texas Beef Brisket Sandwich. The brisket was tender, well-seasoned, and had a nice hint of smoke to it. It comes with a spicy mop sauce on the sandwich, which was good, and I also added the sweet barbecue sauce to the sandwich, just to add a little something. The sandwich is served on garlic toast, which is an amazing combination. Seriously, yum.
I ordered the macaroni and cheese as my side. It was creamy, and cheesy, and was an enjoyable, homemade tasting mac and cheese. If you, or your kids, prefer the taste of box mac and cheese, it might be best for you to get a different side item. I really enjoyed it, though.
Overall
I enjoyed my experience at Regal Eagle, and I can’t wait to get back again and eat some more barbecue on future trips.
Have you eaten at Regal Eagle? What’s your favorite menu item?!
