Our Favorite 50th Anniversary Treats

Just last week we were at the Walt Disney World Resort enjoying the sights, sounds, and treats from the World’s Most Magical Celebration! We found all of the 50th Anniversary statues, we saw the new Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade, I watched Disney Enchantment on Main Street U.S.A., and we tried a few on the new 50th Anniversary Celebration eats and treats.

Throughout the celebration, there will be 150 food and beverage items to celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Magic Kingdom. During our most recent trip we tried six Celebration exclusive treats, and today we’re going to rank them in order from our favorite, to our least favorite.

50th Celebration Ice Cream Sandwich (Dino-Bites) – Vanilla soft-serve ice cream sandwiched between two giant, fudgy chocolate cookies, all rolled in EARidescent sprinkles, and topped with a 50th medallion. The cookies were rich and chocolatey, and just firm enough to hold the sandwich together without crumbling. This was the overall favorite.

Pressed Penny Silk (Casey’s Corner) – Rich, smooth chocolate filling inside a chocolate tart shell, topped with fluffy whipped cream and a chocolate pressed penny. This was rich, creamy, chocolatey, and amazing.

Glimmer and Shimmer Blondie (Fairfax Fare and Backlot Express) – This coconut and toffee blondie is topped with salted caramel buttercream and gold nuggets. It is also quite large, and easily sharable. It is delicious! The only thing that could make it better is some chocolate chucks to break up the richness.

50th Celebration Sandwich Cookie (Rosie’s All-American Cafe) – A crunchy pretzel shortbread cookies is topped with strawberry jam, peanut butter-chocolate fudge, and Hollywood Studios images. We had really high hopes for this cookie – we all LOVE peanut butter. Sadly, the peanut butter-chocolate fudge was overpowered by the thick layer of strawberry jam.

Celebration Hot Dog (Casey’s Corner) – When we first saw this menu listing even before the Celebration started, we were intrigued. We had to try it. For science. An all beef hot dog is topped with strawberry-bacon jam, funnel cake pieces, and powdered sugar. The jam was more like a strawberry sauce and soaked the bun, the strawberry was also a bit overpowering. The funnel cake pieces were really good. Overall, the hot dog/ dessert experience was slightly weird, but not totally bad.

Celebration Cupcake (Restaurantosaurus) – This lemon cake has lemon filling, vanilla frosting, celebration sprinkles, a chocolate Mickey, and a 50th anniversary medallion. The cupcake wasn’t bad, but it had A LOT of frosting, and the kids weren’t big fans of the very lemony flavor.

We’ve only scratched the surface of all of the 50th Anniversary Celebration eats that are available at Walt Disney World right now. We’re looking forward to going back again, and trying enough more eats and sweets!
