What Will be Different on Our Next Disney Cruise?!

It has been almost two years since the last time we set foot on a Disney Cruise ship, and the next time we do sail, things will be a lot different. So, what will be different on our next Disney Cruise?

The kids don’t know yet. We have a cruise booked for a few months from now, and for the first time ever, the kids were not part of the planning and booking process. I’m excited to tell them, and see their reaction when we do.

Vaccine requirements. Covid vaccine requirements are popping up all over the place, and the cruise world is definitely one place where they are required for everyone that is old enough to get them. At this point, that means that everyone 5 and older will need to be fully vaccinated for sailings starting on January 13, 2022.

Covid testing. Prior to sailing, those that are not old enough to have received the vaccine are required to be tested 1-3 days prior to arriving at their departure port. Once at the port, before being allowed to board the ship, EVERYONE is required to be tested, and receive a negative result.

Masks are required while indoors for everyone ages 2 and older. Luckily both kids are really good about keeping a mask on, and we spent a lot of time outside while we’re on the ship anyway.

We don’t meet a TON of characters when we’re on the ship, but on our last cruise Bella loved meeting the Princess, Mickey and Minnie. There are still chances to see and take photos with characters, they are just distanced, and you must keep your mask on for any photos.

We, especially Christian, loves eating breakfast at Cabanas. This is only different in that now Cast Members plate your food for you. [The same applies to the BBQ on Castaway Cay, and the beverage and soft-serve stations on the ship and the island.]

The Oceaneer Club itself is slightly different. At the current time, reservations are required for time slots at the Oceaneer Club. Kids will be broken into groups, and will rotate throughout the activities in the Club. The biggest thing for us, though, is that Bella is old enough to go to the Club now!

We’ve had plenty of sea days on our 7-night sailings, but our next sailing will be a 3-night sailing with a sea day instead of stopping at Nassau. We all love sea days! They are really the only time that I actually relax. If you know me, you know how hard it is for me to just sit.

This is the longest we’ve gone without sailing! The last time we took an extended time off from cruising was when I was pregnant with Bella. I was three months pregnant on our back-to-back cruises in late 2017, and then we sailed again when Bella was 9-months old in early 2019.

We’ll all excited to sail again!
