Captain's Gala Menu on the Disney Wonder (Fall 2016)

On the last evening of our sailing the menu in the main dining rooms was the Captain’s Gala Menu. On this particular evening we were back at the beginning of our dining rotation and dining at Triton’s. The menu fit in well with the location.

That evening we started off with three appetizers.

The Marinated Tiger Shrimp, four herb marinated tail on shrimp served with celery hearts. If you like shrimp you’ll like this dish.

We’re big eggplant fans, so we had to try the Lightly Breaded Baked Eggplant. Big slices of breaded eggplant served ricotta and Mozzarella cheese, a slightly sweet tomato sauce and topped with basil. I would have been happy with this dish as an entrée!

We also had to try the Braised Oxtail Soup. The soup was rich and flavorful, we enjoyed it.

Christian enjoyed a Kid’s Burger again.

In addition to his burger we also order the Oven-Baked Lobster Tail. A buttery lobster tail, taken out of the shell at your table and served over lemon and sun-dried tomato mashed potatoes, that are zesty and slightly sweet and pair well with the sweetness of the lobster, and roasted asparagus.

The Pan-Seared Venison Medallions were juicy, which is hard to do with venison since it isn’t a fatty meat. It was very good and served with slightly sweet marinated red cabbage and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, potato croquettes. The dish was topped with a Port and Juniper reduction. The whole dish was delicious and had a German feel to it.

Following all of that we had to have dessert! We order two and our amazing server Liliana brought us a third so that we didn’t miss out.

Old Fashioned Apple Pie – what could be more American! Buttery, flaky crust on the bottom, sides and top, filled with sweet soft apples served with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. We love the combination of apple pie and ice cream, so this was a must order and it did not disappoint.

Crème Brulee is also one of those must order menu items, so we had to order the Raspberry Vanilla Crème Brulee. Creamy custard with raspberries topped with a crisp sugar crust and tiny, sugary madeleine cookies.

Our server also brought us a Chocolate Lava Cake. This cake is rich, chocolatey and decadent. A moist, rich chocolate cake with a molten center plated on a flood of chocolate sauce and topped with vanilla ice cream. If you’re a chocolate lover, and we are, you won’t want to miss out on this cake.

We really enjoyed our meal and highly recommend enjoying this menu for yourself.
