Disney Wonder Dining - Triton's Dinner Review

Triton’s is the third main dining restaurant. It is located at deck 3 mid ship and is one of the first things that you see when you board the ship. It is the most upscale of the three main dining location and one of the two entrances is between the two grand stair cases.

As the name gives away, the restaurant has a Little Mermaid theme. The back wall of the restaurant showcases a large mural of Ariel, who can also be found in statue form just outside the front entrance, as well as King Triton. Part of the ceiling, above the pillars, resembles shells that you would find in the ocean, and change colors over the course of your meal.

When you arrive at your table you will find an elegant table setting complete with an intricately folded napkin.

Your server will bring your menus on the cover of which you will find the name of the restaurant as well as King Triton’s trident.

Food

On this particular evening we were presented with a crusty French bread that fit well with the rest of the French inspired cuisine.

Between the three of us we tried three appetizers.

The Kid’s Chicken Noodle Soup is full of tons of chicken, noodles and veggies that included peas, corn, carrots, and green beans. The broth had a good salty and carrot flavor to it. Quite tasty overall.

The Breaded and Fried Brie came in the form of two delicious brie nuggets. It has a great crunch on the outside and the inside was full of gooey brie. It was served with cranberry and orange chutney which accented the brie nicely.

The Escargot was served in the traditional French style with a bread-stick on the side. The snails were marinated in herbs and had a great garlic and herb flavor as well as a good chew to them. The garlicky oil it was good for mopping up with bread.

Now on to the entrees…

The kid’s Grilled Chicken was a good sized portion of chicken with good seasoning, but it wasn’t something that would be too much for picky kids. It was served with roasted red potatoes, that were soft and fluffy on the inside and slightly crisp on the outside, as well as standard steamed carrots that had a sweet natural carrot flavor. As a Mickey Check Meal it came with juicy and sweet watermelon for dessert.

The lamb portion of the Roasted Rack of Lamb had an herb crust that was stuck to the meat with a yellow mustard that complimented the meal nicely. It was served with perfectly roasted buttery Brussel sprouts, cheesy potatoes, and a Burgundy rosemary sauce.

The Crispy Roasted Duck Breast had a good rendering on the breast fat which made for a crisp skin. The meat itself, breast and leg were tender and juicy. It was served with a slightly sweet honey parsnip mash that had good natural flavor, that wasn’t over powered by the honey and was deliciously creamy. Cabbage, which was tender and had good flavor, crispy shallots, and red wine jus also accompanied the dish.

Onto the final course, the desserts…

The Grand Marnier Soufflé was light and fluffy. It is infused with orange zest which compliments the flavor of the Grand Marnier. It is served with a sweet and delicious Grand Marnier Anglaise. Don’t worry, there’s not a strong alcohol taste.

Sweet Temptations was the dessert sampler and consisted of three delicious desserts. The Raspberry Mousse was creamy and had great raspberry flavor. The Mango Cheesecake was rich, cream, and had good mango flavor but it wasn’t over powering. The Tahitian Vanilla Crème Brulee had a nice crisp brulee, lots of rich and creamy vanilla custard and a sliced strawberry on top.

Overall a very satisfying meal! We highly recommend that you don’t skip the opportunity to dine here when you sail aboard the Disney Wonder.
