Disney Wonder Dining - Parrot Cay Dinner Review
Okay everyone, life is officially not as
hectic anymore! We finally have time to blog regularly again – so let’s talk
about some more Disney Cruise Line food. Today we have Parrot Cay. We ate
dinner at Parrot Cay on our second night aboard the Wonder. This night just
happened to be formal night, so we all got dressed up, felt pretty, and just
happened to be in the most casual of the three main dining restaurants on this
evening. No matter, while none of us like dressing up regularly we enjoyed
doing it on the cruise.
Now, Parrot Cay is located on deck three
all of the way at the back of the ship. It has an island flair to it and is
decorated with reds, blues, and greens as well as tropical birds. Also, be sure
to check out the light fixtures on the walls – it’s Sebastian the crab from The
Little Mermaid! The island features are what makes Parrot Cay feel more relaxed
than the other two main dining locations.
After we were seated we anxiously awaited
some delicious Disney Cruise Line food.
Just as every night, to start our dinner
we were brought a basket of fresh warm bread. On this evening it was warm
banana bread with creamy banana dip. It was amazing – we had to ask for more.
To start we tried two soups and a dip.
The kid’s Broccoli Cheddar Soup was creamy
and had great cheese and broccoli flavor.
The Cream of Asparagus Soup had just enough
asparagus flavor to not be overpowering for those that tend to not like asparagus,
like us, but we like to try new things. The soup was creamy, but the cream did
not overpower the asparagus. Overall a very satisfying soup.
The dip was Baked Crab Martinique. It had good
crab flavor, stringy cheese and it went well with the tortilla chips. It also
came with a plantain chip, but because Miriya is not a fan of plantains it was
given to Christian and he devoured it.
On to the entrees…
The kid’s Fish Nuggets had flaky batter
draped around flavorful, moist cod. The fish came with steamed broccoli and
potato steak fries. The broccoli was flavorful and the fries were crisp on the
outside and soft on the inside.
We also tried the Slow Roasted Prime Rib served
with roasted carrots, parsnips, celery, and a twice baked potato. The meat was
moist, tender, and flavorful, the meat flavor was enhanced by the natural jus.
The carrots still had a bite to them which was great and the potato was full of
potato-y flavor.
Last of the entrées was the Mixed Grill. Beef tenderloin, lamb chop, bacon-wrapped
sausage, and jumbo shrimp served with mashed potatoes, asparagus and grilled
tomato. All of the meat was tender and had great grilled flavor. The meat was
rested on top of mashed potatoes which were creamy and had grilled flavor
thanks to the meat that was on top of them. The asparagus still had a bit to it
and the tomato was nicely grilled. The Cabernet mushroom sauce rich and paired
well with the meat.
Now for dessert…
We sampled the Warm Sticky Date Pudding
and the Paradise Coconut Pineapple Layer Cake.
The date pudding was a pudding in the
British sense of the word. A warm cake with sweet date flavor drenched in date
sauce. It was served with vanilla ice cream which paired well with the cake.
The Pineapple Layer Cake was a moist
sponge cake with great pineapple and coconut flavor. The cake was paired with a
mango coulis.
So much amazing food! We enjoyed Parrot Cay
each time that we dined there.
