Disney Wonder Dining - Frozen Theme Night

On the fourth day of our Alaska cruise we visited the gorgeous town of Skagway, we had a great time. When we returned to the ship for the evening it was almost time for dinner at Animator’s Palate. Yes, if you are on cruise that is longer than three nights you will eat at the same restaurants, but have no fear the menu will not be the same every time!

This particular night was Frozen night – the restaurants, the lobby and the pool deck were all decked out for the day and that night there was a Frozen deck party!

On to dinner…

The first thing that we noticed when we entered the dining room was the attire of the head servers – they could easily have survived in the Norwegian Fjords.

To start out the meal we were treated to Knackebrod, a Dark Rye Bread with Liver Pate. It was quite tasty! Christian liked it and at the time he was only 14 months old!

Following the bread we sampled three appetizers between the three of us. The kid’s Minestrone Soup was full of veggies and cute Mickey noodles and had amazing veggie flavor.

Elsa’s Coronation Scallops is not your traditional scallop dish. The tender scallops are snuggled underneath flaky and buttery puff pastry. Overall a great dish, and we’re not normally fans of scallops.

Jarlsberg Tart is a pile of fluffy eggs and melted Jarlsberg cheese topped with flaky puff pastry. It had a great cheesy flavor paired well with the onion and thyme sauce.

On to the entrees!

The kid’s Baked Cod was flaky and succulent. It was served with standard steamed broccoli and soft on the inside and crisp on the outside steak fries.

Hans Juniper Wild Boar Filet was delicious. The meat itself was tender, but had a nice crust on the outside. It was served with spätzle, baby turnips that were tender, yet had a nice bite to them, and a wild mushroom cream sauce that paired nicely with the boar.

The Veal “King Agda” was served with creamy polenta that was smooth and not too buttery. The polenta was topped with sautéed kale and that was topped with the veal. The Meat was tender and full of veal flavor. The meat was topped with cheesy crab meat and an asparagus spear. The dish was finished out with a Béarnaise sauce that paired well with everything on the plate.

For dessert we sampled the Warm Apple Pudding Cake. The cake was moist and full of large slices of apple, it was much like an apple bread pudding. It paired quite well with the vanilla ice cream that it was served with.

The Sweet Temptations was a sampling of three desserts. Olaf’s White Chocolate Floro Dome was a carrot cake with Norwegian Cardamom cookie and sweet marshmallow whipped cream. The Almond Berry Crumble Cake was naturally sweet from the berries and had the texture of a  muffin with crumble topping. Lastly the Norwegian Pancake was a thin pancake, much like a crepe that was rolled up with Lingonberry cream cheese. Yum.

We also splurged on this occasion for the signature non-alcoholic drink of the night that was served in a Frozen souvenir cup. The Ice Palace was a combination or mango puree, fresh pineapple and banana with coconut water. It had a great fresh flavor to it and the mango wasn’t overpowering.

Overall, we had a great night of Frozen fun and Norwegian food!
