Movies to Watch Before Your Next Walt Disney World Vacation 2021 Edition

Disney World is a place where people of all ages can experience fun, imagination, and magic. It is a place where families, groups, couples, and even solo travelers can escape from reality, even if only for a little while. The Walt Disney World Resort offers the opportunity to step into new worlds, especially at Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. It is also a place where kids, and kids at heart, can see their favorite characters in person.

The parks and resorts can certainly be enjoyed without any Disney movie or TV show knowledge, but it is even better when you, and/or your kids, step into a world that they’ve seen on the screen, and feel like they’re really there!

Five years ago, we wrote about movies and shows that you should watch to make your next Walt Disney World vacation even better. A LOT has changed at Disney World in the last five years, so we thought it was time to write a new post.

Lands Based on Movies

At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you can step into Pandora – The World of Avatar. It is breathtakingly beautiful. Here you’ll find two attractions, Flight of Passage and Na’vi River Journey, as well as two quick service dining location.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios has two immersive lands that truly make you feel like you have been put into the movies. In Toy Story Land, you’re the size of a toy! There are three attractions, Slinky Dog Dash, Alien Swirling Saucers, and Toy Story Mania. There is also a quick service dining location, Woody’s Lunch Box.

Also at Hollywood Studios, you can join the Resistance, or support the First Order, in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. Here you’ll find Black Spire Outpost which offers shopping and dining. You can also fly the Millennium Flacon on Millennium Falcon Smuggler’s Run, or rise up against the First Order on Rise of the Resistance.

Movies Based on Rides or Attractions

Country Bear Jamboree

Haunted Mansion

Jungle Cruise

At the time of writing, some character meet and greets are coming back, however, guests are still not able to be right next to a character. There are chances to see characters around the parks, though! Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios have cavalcades, Animal Kingdom has flotillas, and all four parks have the chance see characters in unique places throughout the parks. You never know who you might see! Characters can include Mickey and Friends, Pixar Pals, Lion King friends, Tinker Bell, and more!
