The Return of Disney Cruise Line?!
Starting in July, Disney Cruise Line will be setting sail again! Well, one of the four ships will be. The Disney Magic will be providing Disney staycations from the UK for UK residents. Recently the safety guidelines for those sailings were released by Disney Cruise Line. Now, some of these guidelines could be different once cruising resumes in the U.S., however many of them could very well be in place to meet the requirements of the CDC in order to set sail from an American port. Today, I’m here to talk about what we COULD see.
Signage and Ground Markings – These have become the norm since
the beginning of everything last year. We’ve seen them at stores, airports, and
Disney World. I see these being in use at least until the major threat of covid
is gone.
Physical Barriers – You know that plexiglass that popped up
overnight at grocery stores last year? The same plexiglass that has made its
way onto most attractions at Disney World to allow for greater on ride capacity.
I see this being in place at places like gift shop check out counters and quick
service dining location windows.
Enhanced Cleaning – Disney Cruise Line has always gone above and
beyond when it comes to cleaning regardless.
Additional Hand Sanitizer throughout the ship.
Face Coverings - Masks are required for all guests and crew ages
11 and up on these UK sailings, and is encouraged for guests ages 3-10. Masks must
be worn except when eating or drinking while stationary, taking a stationary
outdoor photo, while swimming, or when in your stateroom. Until mask mandates
are the world go away, I see this one being in place.
Reservations – Until social distancing requirements are lifted,
and regular capacity limits are
reinstated, I see reservations being required for stage shows, the fitness
center, and time at Youth Clubs.
The pool – Due to the limited capacity of the pool area, I
believe that a virtual queue, or reservations, may be required for the pools, AquaLab,
and waterslides.
Character Meet and Greets – Much like is the case at Disney
World right now, characters will be available for photos, but from a distance.
Digital Menus – Digital menus have become incredibly popular
lately, and I believe that they may be used for the onboard dining rooms.
Buffets – At least for a while, buffets as we know them, will be
a thing of the past. They may go the way of a Cast Member serving food at each
station if they are open at all.
Beverage Station and Eye Scream – These stations will be manned
by a Cast Member.
Youth Clubs – A reservation could very well be required for the Youth
Clubs, and at time limited imposed.
No Hanging Gift Bags – At least for a while, door-to-door gift
exchanges (Fish Extender) are not allowed.
There are more requirements for the UK sailings, but these are the ones that I can FOR SURE see being in place when sailings resume from the United States.
