Cabanas Buffet on the Disney Fantasy

The Disney Fantasy has so many great places to enjoy a meal or a snack – and we’ve talked about most of them already over the past couple of months. Today, though, we have information about Cabanas – the buffet on the Disney Fantasy – that offers delicious eats for breakfast, lunch, and late night offerings on Pirate Night and on Star Wars Day at Sea!

Each day at least one of the main dining rooms offers a sit-down breakfast experience. They offer favorites like pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, and pastries. You can order whatever you want, and as much of it as you would like, and if you enjoy being served a leisurely breakfast it is a great experience. We enjoyed it the two times that we ventured to the dining room for breakfast on the Wonder on our first cruise way back in 2015. We have not been back to a main dining room for breakfast since then, though. The experience was a good one, and the food was delicious – but it’s just not really our thing.

We prefer to start our day with a trip up to deck 11 for a wide variety of choices from Cabanas.

Cabanas can be found on all four Disney ships and has a fun Finding Nemo and beach theme. On the Fantasy the walls feature carvings and mosaics of Finding Nemo characters, and in the middle of the restaurant you’ll find a wall with sand castles on it that represent the castles from the Disney Parks around the world! If you look up you’ll also spy those seagulls from Finding Nemo. “Mine, Mine!” In the hallway by the aft elevator entrance you’ll also find Nigel the pelican.

There is lots of beach themed indoor seating, complete with overhead “umbrellas.” Some days we sit inside, but we also like to sit outside! The views from the very back of the ship are breathtaking. There is a lot of seating outside both behind the restaurant here, but there is also seating out the front doors of the buffet as well.

On each side of the buffet there is also a beverage station that includes juice, soft drinks, coffee, and hot water for tea. Can be found in small cartoons by the cereal at breakfast, and you can also ask for one at lunch if the needed arises. (You can also get milk 24 hours a day from the outside beverage station.) There is also a bar located at the back of the buffet.

Now, onto the food!

The signage for the buffet has a beach theme, too! The surfboard shaped signs give you an idea of what is available from each section.

There are two entrances to the restaurant and two sides to the buffet, but both sides serve exactly the same thing. The best part is that there’s no need to stand in line once you’re inside if you know what you want and where it is – it’s a free flowing buffet, and the cast members will remember you it, too!

After you’ve washed your hands at the sinks located just outside the entrance step inside for a great meal.

Breakfast

The breakfast buffet includes breakfast favorites like:
Meats (Bacon, Sausage)
Eggs (Scrambled, Omelets, Egg Bites)
Eggs Benedict (Often more than one kind)
Baked Beans
Pancakes
Waffles
Toppings for Pancakes and Waffles (Fruit Compote, Chocolate Sauce, Caramel Sauce, Whipped Cream)
Oatmeal and Mix-Ins (Brown Sugar, Cinnamon, Raisins)
Grits
Vegetables (Grilled Tomatoes, Grilled Asparagus, Mushrooms)
Breakfast Potatoes
Hash browns
Breads for Toast and Toppings (Butter, Jelly, Peanut Butter)
Sliced Meats and Cheeses
Sliced Fresh Fruit
Whole Apples, Bananas, and Oranges
Yogurt and Toppings (Granola, Dried Fruit, Nuts)
Cereal
Pastries (Doughnut, Danish, Croissant, Cinnamon Roll, Bagels)
Toppings for Bagels (Cream Cheese, Capers, Salmon, Slice Onions)

As if that all wasn’t enough, you can also get eggs made to order! Each day there is also a special item on the buffet – some days there are breakfast sandwiches, some days banana bread French Toast, some days breakfast burritos – you just never know what will be there so make sure you look at the whole buffet.

Christian likes to start the day with hash browns, sausage, and pancakes, or a nice bowl of cereal. The rest of us tend to change what we have each day, but you can’t do wrong with the oatmeal, fruit, special of the day, Eggs Benedict, or hash browns!

Lunch

We normally stop in to Cabanas for lunch at least a few times during a sailing, however while we were on the Fantasy we only made it to the buffet on embarkation day, and quickly on Star Wars Day at Sea. Most of the days we ended up either grabbing something quickly from Flo’s before we got off the ship, or because we were hanging out by the pool and didn’t want to have to go back down to our stateroom on deck 2 before going back up to deck 11 to eat.

Lunch on embarkation day, as always, was delicious. We enjoyed it outside all the way at the back of the ship with a view of Port Canaveral while we discussed our plans for the rest of the day. Christian, who is a HUGE pizza fan loved that there was pizza on the buffet. He finished his meal with carrot cake from the dessert case.

So, what all is on the lunch buffet? It varies by day, but there is something that everyone will enjoy!

The lunch buffet may include items like:

Pizza
Chicken or Fish Nuggets
French Fries
Mac and Cheese
Pasta
Carved Meats
Lamb
Vegetables (Broccoli, Asparagus, Peas)
Tofu
Sushi
Potatoes
Rice
Chicken
Sliced Meats and Cheeses
Seafood Bar (Mussels, Crab, Shrimp, Tartar Sauce, Cocktail Sauce, Lemons)
Salad Bar (Fresh Veggies, Dressings, and Toppings)
Desserts

The choices on the buffet change every day, but there is always something delicious! There is a case of chilled deserts like cakes, mousse, Jell-O, and pudding, as well as cookies, at least one warm dessert like fruit crumble or bread pudding, and hand scooped ice cream.

Dinner

Dinner at Cabanas is not something that we have experienced before. It is not a buffet at dinner time, but is a sit-down restaurant that serves the same dishes as the main dining rooms, at a faster pace. There are also some items that are specific to Cabanas.

Late Night Buffet

On special nights, like Star Wars Day at Sea or Pirate Night Cabanas also serves a late night buffet following the deck party. We’ve talked about these buffets in previous posts – be sure to check them out!

Overall
We love eating breakfast and lunch at Cabanas! There is always something new and everything we’ve had has been delicious. We highly recommend including Cabanas as part of your Disney Cruise Line experience. We can’t wait to start our cruise on the Dream at the very end of January and the Wonder in February with lunch from Cabanas on the very first day of each cruise!
