Disney Wonder Alaska Cruise - Port Days

It has been an incredibly busy few weeks, but we finally have a little time we're going to talk about port days!

The Wonder docks in three amazingly beautiful port cities - Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan. You can choose to explore these cities on your own or you can book a port adventure. Port adventures are available in all three cities and there is one for every age, activity level, and budget. We'll have another post about each of the port adventures we took part in.

Port times are listed on the daily navigator for that day. Once the the ship has docked and is cleared by the local authorities you are free to go ashore!

You will dock earlier in the day, around 7am, in Skagway and Juneau - there is more time to explore on these two days.

Just before the all ashore call there will be an announcement to inform you of where the gangway is so that you can go ashore. Where you will exit depends on the port and the tide level.

As you leave the ship your key to the world card will be scanned and it will be scanned on the way back into the ship as well. You will also have to go through a metal detector and have your bags scanned when you board again so that security can make sure that nothing is being brought onto the ship that shouldn't be. You will not be allowed to bring weapons or any fresh food on or off the ship.

If you are taking part in a port adventure you will have a meeting place - it will be printed on your adventure ticket - but you can always  go ashore to explore a little on your own and board the ship again before your meeting time.

Ketchikan

You do not have to go ashore at all - but we highly recommend it! After all you have paid to see Alaska. While in port the ship will continue to run normally with the exception of the shops being closed. Entertainment, the pool, room service, and the restaurants will all be open during their regular times. So, before and after you go ashore you can still grab a snack or a swim!

So enjoy the beautiful towns that Alaska has to offer!
