Disneyland Diamond Celebration Special Treats - Cupcakes

Food is an incredibly important part of any trip to Disney property – you need energy to keep you going for the whole day. Disney seems to know that there are guests out there that enjoy the food just as much as the rest of the experience, because they do not disappoint in the culinary department.

As mentioned in the overview post there are special Diamond Celebration treats available at both Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure parks.

We sampled the Diamond Celebration cupcakes available at each park. Note: The cupcakes are almost exactly the same – one is a lemon cupcake and one is an orange cupcake.

The California Adventure Diamond Celebration Cupcake is available at the Fiddler, Fifer, and Practical Café.

This is California Adventure’s Starbucks location and it is located on Buena Vista Street just before the turn into Grizzly Peak. The Café shares a seating area with Clarabelle’s Hand Scooped Ice Cream. Clarabelle’s serves up Dryers ice cream in a Mickey pant sink – but we’ll save that for another time. There is plenty of seating here if you enjoy your sweet treats in the air conditioning – there is also a small amount of outdoor seating.

There are signs for the cupcake once you make it to the line as well as a giant cupcake on display.

This is the orange version of the cake and the orange flavor does not disappoint. The cupcake is topped with butter-cream frosting, which is sugary and delicious, as well as smooth Bavarian Cream Cheese Mousse. If you are not a fan of the tang that comes with cream cheese you may not like this mousse. We thought it was delicious. The chocolate pearls provide a small crunch that goes well with the moist cake and the soft icing and mousse. The cake is also topped with a white chocolate diamond.

The cake itself is moist and as mentioned, as great orange flavor that pairs well with all of the toppings as well as the sweet berry filling.

The Disneyland Celebration Cupcake is available at Jolly Holiday Bakery. This Mary Poppin’s themed eatery is more than just a bakery – soups, salads, and sandwiches are served along with baked goods. Jolly Holiday is located on Main Street at the turn towards Adventureland. There is ample seating, but all seating is located outside. Some tables are fully covered by an awning while others have an umbrella.

This version is a lemon cake with white chocolate champagne mousse and strawberry filling. The lemon flavor pairs well with the strawberry filling as well as the mousse “icing”. The mousse is smooth and although it is “champagne” mousse you don’t really taste it, at least not when the cupcake is cold. This cake is topped with a white chocolate Disneyland “D”.

The cupcakes are served chilled and are best eaten when they are still cold. We felt that you could better taste all of the flavors when they are cold. They are still delicious when they warmed up slightly, though.

We recommend that if you have the chance you should sample both cupcakes that are available.
