We Rode the Disney Skyliner! Our Thoughts.
On our last two trips we’ve stay at Disney’s Pop Century Resort and we’ve really enjoyed it. Since our most recent trip to Disney World was so short – two nights with one day at Hollywood Studios – we decided to book a resort that we already knew we liked. We also decided to stay at Pop because of the new Disney Skyliner!
We all rode the Skyliner during the trip and today we’re here to tell you all about our experience.
We drove to Hollywood Studios so that we could guaranteed that we got to the park when we wanted to, but that also meant that someone had to drive back to the resort. Bella fell asleep shortly before we left the park, so Howard took her and the car back to the resort while Christian and I took the Skyliner. He left before park closing, so there wasn’t a line to get onto the gondola system, and we were at the transfer station at Caribbean Beach Resort in just a few minutes.
It was a fun experience, but because it was dark outside, we couldn’t see much. Since everyone didn’t get to ride, and because we didn’t get the whole experience we all rode all of the way from the Pop Century/Art of Animation station to Epcot and back.
The views are amazing, the gondolas move faster than you would think, and it is a fun experience overall. We enjoyed seeing all of the characters and movie wraps on the gondolas that we passed. There is a lot of room in the cabins, and there was a nice cross breeze thanks to the vents.
Keep in mind that when you’re traveling from Hollywood Studios you must exit the Skyliner even if you are planning to go back to Hollywood Studios. It is meant to be a means of transportation, not an attraction.
So, now I’m sure that if you haven’t ridden the Skyliner you have questions…
How many people can fit in a gondola? Ten people, however, if there is a wheelchair I believe only 8 guests can fit.
Can I take my stroller on? Yes, however cast members mentioned that double strollers needed to be folded since they do not fit.
Does the Skyliner stop for you to get out? No, unless a wheelchair is in the cabin. The gondolas remain in motion when you are entering and exiting.
Will I have to share a gondola with other guests? It depends! If it is busy and there is a line – yes. We shared a gondola twice, even though there was not a line, we just arrived at the entrance at the same time as two other guests.
Where does the Skyliner go? Caribbean Beach Resort is the central hub where transfers take place. From there you can go to Art of Animation/Pop Century, Epcot (via Disney’s Rivera Resort Station, not transfer necessary), and Hollywood Studios.
We enjoyed our trip around Disney World on the Skyliner and look forward to taking a ride through the sky again in the future!
