A Look Ahead at 2020


Is it just me or did 2019 fly by?! It has been an exciting year at the Disney Parks and the excitement and magic will continue into 2020. Before we look at what is coming to Disney World, Disneyland, and Disney Cruise Line in 2020, let’s take a look back 2019.

2019

Mickey’s Birthday Party! Mickey and Minnie Mouse celebrated their 90th birthday in November 2018 and the celebration continued into 2019. The Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts hosted celebrations that included special meet and greets, merchandise, and treats!
               
The Incredibles came back to Hollywood Studios! Mr. and Mrs. Incredible and Frozone took part in a Incredibles Dance Party Guests also had the opportunity to follow clues to try and find Jack-Jack, meet fashion mogul Edna Mode, and enjoy Num Num Cookies at Pixar Place. All this will be taking place at Hollywood Studios.

Everyone’s favorite monsters, Mike and Sulley, returned to Hollywood Studios.

As Part of Hollywood Studio’s 30th Anniversary an all new night time experience “Wonderful World of Animation” is set to debut in May of 2019.

Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy opened at Hollywood Studios.

The Hakuna Matata Time Dance Party at Animal Kingdom celebrated the movie’s 25th Anniversary.


The Epcot International Festival of the Arts returned for its third year starting Mid-January and the Disney on Broadway Concerts Series that takes place during this festival was expanded to seven days a week.

The Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival ran from the beginning of March to the beginning of June and its Garden Rocks Concert Series will be expanding to seven days a week as well.

Epcot’s Illuminations: Reflections of Earth, which debuted in October 1999 will be came to an end at the end.  A new nighttime spectacular, “Epcot Forever,” debuted.

Disney’s Riviera Resort opened!

The Disney SkyLiner opened allowing guests to take to the sky for transportation between select resorts, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios.  

The biggest event of 2019, however, was be the opening of Galaxy’s Edge. Disneyland’s opened on May 31, 2019 and Disney World’s followed on August 29, 2019. The section of their respective parks immerses guests in the world of Star Wars. Guests will find themselves on the planet Batuu where they can stop at the Black Spire Outpost or take a ride on Star Wars Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run.

2020

Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway was originally slotted to open in 2019, but the attraction was delayed at is now set to open March 4, 2020.

A Toy Story table service restaurant, Roundup Rodeo BBQ, is set to delight toys of all ages with barbecue fare in Toy Story Land sometime in 2020.

So many changes are coming to Epcot in the next few years! Starting in January 2020 guests can enjoy a new Beauty and the Beast Sing Along and a redone “Impressions of France” in the French Pavilion. The “O Canada” attraction in the Canada Pavilion has also been redone, and a new film “Wondrous China,” with come to the China Pavilion. Outside of World Showcase guests can also enjoy a new film "Awesome Planet” in the Land Pavilion.

Regal Eagle Smokehouse is set to open sometime this winter to delight guests with All-American barbecue fare in the American Adventure.

Summer 2020 will see the opening of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and La Creperie de Paris in the French Pavilion.

“HarmonioUS,” a new nighttime spectacular is set to debut some time in 2020.

Space 220 an immersive space themed dining experience is set to open at Epcot Winter 2020.

Epcot’s fun, educational, and food filled festivals will also be returning.
The Festival of the Arts will run from January 17 through February 24. The Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival will run March 4 through June 1. And the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival will return in Fall 2020.

Cirque du Soleil’s new “Drawn to Life” is set to open in 2020.

Disneyland’s California Adventure Park will welcome heroes to Avenger’s Campus, a gathering and training place for future Avengers, starting in Summer 2020.

A new parade, “Magic Happens” will celebrate the magic of Disney starting February 28, 2020 at Disneyland.

The highly anticipated Rise of the Resistance is set to open January 17, 2020 at Disneyland.

The Disneyland Resort’s Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival will delight guests from February 28 through April 21.

Disney Cruise Line returns to Hawaii in May 2020! And for the first time ever the Disney Wonder will start sailing from New Orleans!

The Disney Cruise Line fleet also gained a new captain, Captain Minnie!

                           
There is so much to look forward to in 2020 at the Disney Parks and aboard the Disney Cruise Line ships!
