The 2017 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival
The
annual Epcot International Food and Wine Festival is in full swing! We attended
for the first time last week and loved it.
If
you’re not familiar with the festival, it takes place at Epcot every fall and
showcases food and beverages from around the world. This year, to celebrate the
35th anniversary of Epcot there are 35 festival marketplaces. Since
we had to change our trip dates we only had one day to spend at Epcot and
because of this we only tried a few things. Everything we tried and saw,
though, was and looked delicious.
The
35 festival marketplaces are found throughout the park, but many of them are
located within World Showcase. The Festival Center, where you can meet great
chefs, shop and more is located near Mission: Space.
In
addition to the great eats there are also live demonstrations and seminars as
well as live music throughout the day at the Eat to the Beat concerts. These
concerts take place at the American Gardens Theater in the American Adventure
Pavilion.
During
our day at Epcot we sampled three delicious dishes as well as one adult
beverage.
The
Lamb Stew with Neeps and Tatties from the Scotland booth was delicious. The
lamb was tender and served with carrots and a savory sauce. The stew was served
over creamy mashed potatoes and neeps, which are mashed turnips. The dish was
satisfying and took me back to the two weeks that I spent in Scotland.
The
adult beverage that we sampled was also from the Scotland booth. The Citrus
Thistle was a mix of Hendrick’s Gin and grapefruit. It was refreshing and
delicious!
From
the Belgium booth we ordered the Belgian Waffle with Warm Chocolate Ganache and
Whipped Cream. Yum! If you like dessert waffles this booth is for you! The
waffles are fluffy and topped with sweet whipped cream and a dark chocolate ganache
that cuts through the sweetness nicely. This booth also has a Strawberry
Compote and Whipped Cream topped waffle.
Last
we tried the Crispy Chicken with Griddled Cornbread and Red Eye Gravy. The
chicken was crispy on the outside and most on the inside. The cornbread was a
savory cornbread, and it paired nicely with the chicken and the rich gravy that
was served on top.
We
really enjoyed all of the dishes that we tried and wish that we had been able
to try more, but we lacked time and stomach space!
There
is so much to see, do and taste at the Festival! Many of food items are available
for a Disney Dining Plan Snack Credit! This is a great use for your snack
credits! The best part is that the food items are all small enough that they
won’t fill you up, too much, but they are also shareable – which is great so
that you can enjoy more!
There
is also a lot of fun festival merchandise at stands and stores around the park –
Figment is featured prominently on many of these items!
As
we mentioned, there are 35 festival marketplaces and each has its on unique
menu that reflects the country or style that booth represents. Here is a list
