A Look Back at Our 2021 Travels
This year has been a bit of a bounce-back year for travel. We all know that 2020 was not what anyone had hoped for - and for the world of travel it was a major bummer. We did do a little traveling last year, but this year was a really good year for traveling for the Whitaker family.
Our first big trip of the year came in May, we moved from Texas to South Carolina. Along the way we made stops in Shreveport, Louisiana and Birningham, Alabama.
We've also taken four road trips to Pittsburgh since we moved. It's been great to be close enough to be able to drive to see family in only one day instead of three. During our trips we stopped at the New River Gorge Bridge three times.
The kids got to visit Chimney Rock in North Carolina with my parents in July!
We've also been lucky enough to be so close to Disney World! In June we took our first family trip to Disney World since before covid. The kids and I went to experience the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival in July. And just two weeks after that I was able to stay at Disney's Riviera Resort as part of my work trip.
In September we were finally able to purchase Disney World annual passes! Since then we spent a few days at the end of September at the parks and All-Star Movies. We spent a week at All-Star Music at the beginning of November as well! Our most recent trip to Disney was just to visit the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays two weeks ago.
We also were able to visit Universal Orlando three different days this year. Our first day at Universal in June was a disappointment, but we enjoyed our days there in Setpember and November.
It has been a good year of travel, and it has been full of Disney and Universal magic.
What's coming up in the next year for us in terms of travel? We're looking forward using our Disney World annual passes a whole bunch! We also got the Universal Military Freedom Pass again for 2022, and we'll be visiting Universal for a least a day here and there. We also have a few cruises book near the end of 2022, and we're looking forward to being back on a cruise ship again! There will, of couse, be at least one of two trips to Pittsburgh as well, we're just not sure where those will be yet.
Was 2021 a good travel year for you?! Where are you looking forward to traveling to in 2022?!
