Sit-Down Lunch at Triton's on the Disney Wonder

We love having dinner in the main dining rooms when we’re on a Disney Cruise. However, we normally enjoy our lunch from either Cabanas, the quick service locations by the pool, or a combination of the two. On our last cruise we decided to enjoy lunch from Triton’s. On past cruises we’ve given a sit-down lunch some thought, but always decided against it for one reason or another. This time we decided to do it, and we’re glad that we did!

Months before the cruise, when we were able to do online check-in, we booked times for Bella to spend time in the nursery. The first of these was so that we could enjoy dinner at Palo on night two of the cruise. The second we booked for sea day 2, but we weren’t sure what we would do at the time. Sea day 2 finally arrived, and we decided that after getting the kids some lunch and dropping them off at the Oceaneer Club and It’s a Small World Nursery, we would enjoy a slower, quieter dining experience for our lunch.

Each day Triton’s is open for a sit-down lunch experience that is more relaxed than dinner, but it is more structured that eating at Cabanas or any of the quick service locations. When we entered the restaurant, we were given a hand wipe to clean our hands, we asked how many were in our party, and then were seated.
After we were seated we were greeted by our server, and given a menu to start looking over. There is something that everyone will enjoy on the lunch menu: burgers, sandwiches, fancier items like Steak Frites and White Wine Poached Lemon Sole, dishes for kids and kids at heart, small plates, soups, salads, and of course desserts.

We ordered our food and enjoyed some time just walking while we waited. The dining room was not even a quarter full, which made for a relaxing dining experience.

We started with a dish from the Small Plates section of the menu, the Roasted Red Pepper Arancini. We’re big fans of arancini, so we couldn’t pass this up! Fluffy rice in a thin, crispy breading with sweet and savory roasted red pepper. This dish was so good. Soft and crunchy, savory and slightly sweet! We gave some thought to ordering a second one, but we wanted to save room for our other food as well. If you read our post about our most recent dinner at Palo, you’ll remember that we ordered arancini on that particular occasion as well, and that one was a bit disappointed. The arancini at lunch at Triton’s was so much better.

After splitting the arancini we moved onto our entrees. We ordered the Steak “Frites” and The Impossible Cheeseburger

The steak part of the steak frites was a tender, juicy sirloin topped with herb butter. It was served with crispy fries and a grilled tomato. The dish was quite satisfying. I ordered the Impossible Burger for two reasons, the first is that I was in a burger kind of mood. The second reason was that I was not paying extra for this meal, and that gave me that chance to order something that I would not normally order when I would have to pay for it. The burger was flavorful, for all I know it could have been a beef burger. It was served on a toasted bun with plant-based cheddar, red onion, lettuce, and tomato. It was a good burger. We were asked if we would like ketchup, mustard and mayo and they were then brought to the table.  The burger came with a side of crispy fries – more like the fries from the quick service locations than the steak fries normally served at dinner – and a roasted garlic aioli for dipping!

We finished our meal with two desserts. The Warm Pina Colada Bread Pudding and the Traditional Baklava.

We love bread pudding and this one was quite good. It did have a distinct tropical flavor to it, so if you’re not a big tropical fan you might not like this. Fluffy bread pudding with flakes of coconut and topped with coconut ice cream. I would order this dessert again.

Our second dessert was baklava. We’re also big baklava fans, and it’s not a dish that you find on many dessert menus, so we couldn’t pass this up. Flaky Phyllo dough, the crunch of mixed nuts, all soaked in a sweet honey syrup. Yum! I would definitely order this again.

Before this experience we had always passed on enjoying a sit-down lunch, mostly because of time constraints. While we won’t be having sit-down lunch every day on future cruises, we’ll definitely make some time to do it at least once a cruise. We really enjoyed our experience and look forward to the next one!
