A "Tour" of Disney Cruise Line Food

We’ve mentioned in the past that we love sailing with Disney Cruise Line for a lot of reasons. We love the magic of it all, the Disney level of service, traveling to different places while only having to unpack once, spending family time together, and getting to spend some time without the kids while they hang out in the Oceaneer Club and It’s a Small World Nursery. We also love the ability to eat pretty much anything we want whenever we want!

There are so many dining options on board, sometimes it’s hard to decided where you want to eat – especially at lunch time! So, where all can you enjoy delicious eats while onboard?

Breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! You’ll need energy for whatever it is that you have planned for your day – whether that’s a day full of activities or just relaxing! There are a variety of options for the breakfast.

Room Service – Simply place the menu card on your door knob the night before you would like to enjoy breakfast in your room and your room service continental style breakfast will arrive at the time of your choosing. The options are limited, but if you’re not a big breakfast eater they may be best for you! Choices include: Fruit, pastries, toast, muffins, bagel, cereal, juice, milk, and coffee.

Sit-Down – Each morning on of the three main dining rooms will serve breakfast. If you like a slower paced breakfast that is brought to your table then this is for you! Selections here include fruit, yogurt parfaits, eggs, hot or cold cereals, pancakes, waffles, French Toast, and traditional breakfast sides like sausage, bacon, hash browns, corned beef hash, and toast.

Character Breakfast – On sailings that are 7-nights or longer you can enjoy a sit-down breakfast with Disney Junior favorites! This breakfast must be booked in advance, but is included in the cost of your cruise. Menu items include: fruit, yogurt, hot and cold cereals, eggs, pancakes, waffles, corned beef hash, and sides like bacon, sausage, and hash browns.

Cabanas – This is our go-to spot for breakfast! Cabanas offers a full breakfast buffet on each day of the cruise. You can eat as much or as little as you like. (Please don’t take more than you can eat, though. Wasting food is not cool.) Each day there is a wide variety of options that include: hot and cold cereals, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, omelets, eggs benedict, French Toast, pancakes, waffles, sautéed vegetables, pastries, bread, yogurt and toppings.

Daisy’s De Lites – We really enjoy breakfast from Daisy’s when we sail on the Magic and the Wonder as well! We love eating at Cabanas, but there are some days that I just want a bowl of oatmeal and some fruit and don’t feel like standing in line at Cabanas to get it! Daisy’s offers a variety of breakfast options including scrambled eggs, hot and cold cereals, a selection of pastries, yogurt, and fresh fruit.

Enchanted Garden – Each sailing on the Dream and Fantasy offers one breakfast at Enchanted Garden. We’re excited to try it in a few weeks on the Dream! This breakfast location is a bit different than the rest. If you’ve dined in Enchanted Garden before you’ll know that there is a buffet set up at the back, but it is not used for dinner. It’s for that one special breakfast! Unlike Cabanas, though, a server will bring your drinks to the table. This meal normally takes place on Nassau day on 3-night sailings on the Dream, and Day 6 on the Fantasy.

Lunch
Just like with breakfast there are is a variety of options available for lunch around the ship.

Quick Service – Each of the four ships has a selection of quick service options near the pool. Enjoy pizza, burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, veggie burgers, pressed sandwiches, salads, fresh fruit, cookies, and daily specials. On the Wonder and the Magic you’ll find bowl stations with grains, veggies, and toppings at Daisy’s De Lites as well as shwarma at Pete’s Boiler Bites and Duck-In Diner.

Cabanas – Lunch is served buffet-style at Cabanas. Offerings can include, but may change: chicken or fish nuggets, French Fries, breads, salad, pastas, veggies, daily specials, desserts. We like to eat lunch here, especially on the first day.

Sit-Down – Each day one of the main dining rooms serves a sit-down style lunch. Menus may include items like: soups, salads, pasta, burgers, lamb, kid’s meals like chicken tenders and pizza, and desserts.

Room Service – If you’re taking a lazy day in your stateroom, or the kids are taking a nap and you’re hungry you can order lunch from room service. Menu items include salads, sandwiches, cheeseburger, hot dog, chicken wings, mac and cheese, pizza, and chicken tenders. Don’t forget to finish the meal with cake of the day, cookies and milk, or a Mickey Ice Cream Bar.

Castaway Cay – Complete your beach day at Castaway Cay with a delicious meal from Cookie’s BBQ, Cookies Too, or at Serenity Bay.  We haven’t been to Serenity Bay, but we know that most of the food there is the same as at the family locations – however there is steak in the adult section. At the family barbecue locations, you’ll find chips, hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, ribs, fish, grilled chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, tomato salad, corn, sauerkraut, flatbread, fresh fruit, cookies, banana bread, and pineapple bread. Each location also has a selection of sliced and whole fresh fruit available throughout the day, that is not on the buffet line, a beverage station, and there is soft-serve ice cream.

Dinner
They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and I get it – you need fuel for the day. I’m always looking forward to dinner, though! So, what options do you have when it’s time for dinner?

Quick Service – If you’re looking for a dinner option for your little ones before you head to Palo or Remy, or you just don’t feel like heading to the main dining room tonight, then those delicious eats from the Quick Service places by the pool are still available at dinner time!

Cabanas – Cabanas serves dinner, but it is not served buffet-style. Dinner here is a sit-down meal that is faster paced than in the main dining rooms. The menu here includes some selections from the main dining rooms, like penne pasta, grilled chicken, steak, Black Truffle Pasta from Animator’s Palate, salmon, pork tenderloin, and desserts.

Dining Rooms – You’ll normally find us in the main dining rooms at dinner time. We love the themes, rotational dining, the food, and we love getting to know our service team. Each of the dining rooms has a unique theme and menus unique to that dining room on most nights. There are theme nights that stretch across all three dining rooms, though, like the Pirate Night menu, and other special theme nights. Each menu has appetizers, salads, soups, entrees, lighter fare options, vegetarian options, and desserts. There are also kid’s menus, but if your kids are big eaters, so don’t feel like having something from the kid’s menu they can always order from the adult menu. The best part? You can eat as much as you want! Two of those appetizers, an entrée, and three desserts all sound too good to pass up? Do it! Just don’t be wasteful!

Room Service – There is also, always the option to order room service for dinner as well.

In Between
What about those times in between meals when you just need a snack? Have no fear, there is plenty to eat any time of day.

Quick Service – After service begins for lunch the quick service locations continue to serve food for most of the day. A recent Personal Navigator from the Disney Dream has the following operating times for the quick service locations on the day that the ship was in Nassau.
Fillmore’s Favorites: 10:30AM – 6:00PM
Tow Mater’s Grill: 10:30AM – 11:00PM
Luigi’s Pizza: 10:30AM – 6:00PM and 9:30PM – 12:30AM

Eye Scream – Who doesn’t love ice cream?! You can get yourself a cone or cup of soft-serve throughout the day to satisfy your sweet tooth! Eye Scream can be found on all four ships and normally has vanilla and chocolate available. Most days there will be two additional flavors available as well. We love the blueberry! On that same Navigator mentioned above Eye Scream was open from 10:30AM to 11:30PM on the day that the Dream was in Nassau.

Room Service – Room Service is available 24 hours a day! Burgers, fries, pizza, Mickey bars, cookies and milk, a cheese plate, and more are available all day long.

At an Extra Cost

In addition to all of the amazing dining options that are included in the cost of your cruise there are also options that cost a little extra, but in most cases, are worth a little bit of a splurge!

Palo – This adult only dining option is by reservation only on all four ships. Palo serves Italian fare for brunch on sea days and for dinner every night. This is a great place for a date night! Dress up, enjoy some alone time, and some great food! Palo comes at an additional cost of $40 per adult, but it is worth it.

Remy – Available by reservation only, and only on the Dream and the Fantasy Remy serves upscale French food in an upscale setting. Like Palo, it comes at an additional cost (Dinner: $125, Brunch: $75, Dessert Experience: $60), and is for those age 18 and up.

Ice Cream – If you’re like us and LOVE ice cream then you may want to stop by Vanellope’s Sweets on the Dream or Sweet on You on the Dream for ice cream by the scoop, sundaes, milkshakes, candy, pasties and more. These all come at an additional charge, but it is worth it to get an epic sundae once a cruise!

Smoothies – Smoothies and Dole Whips are available for an additional charge on all four ships at Frozone’s or Sulley’s Sips. We have enjoyed a Dole Whip on the Wonder and Christian got a vanilla smoothie on the Fantasy so that he could get a BB-8 sipper on our last cruise.

There is so much to enjoy on the ship, that there is no way to go hungry! Where is your favorite place to eat?
