Dine in Style with the Captain's Gala Menu on the Disney Wonder

Every meal on a Disney Cruise Line ship is a great one, and all of the meals in the main dining rooms has a touch of fanciness to it. (Keep in mind that there is normally one main dining room that serves breakfast and lunch in a sit down style if you prefer that format over the quick-service pool side locations and/or the buffet.) There is one menu served in the main dining rooms for dinner that is a little more over the top than the others, and that is the Captain’s Gala Menu.

We enjoyed this menu on the final evening of the first of our last two sailings. Sadly we missed dinner on the last evening of our second sailing due to sea sickness that was made worse by pregnancy.

Today we have for you information about the delicious eats that we enjoyed that night.

We said this meal was fancy and the Oysters Rockefeller on the Half Shell from the appetizer list prove that. Buttery breadcrumbs top bacon, onions, spinach and oysters served on their shell. It was a delicious way to start the meal.

We also enjoyed the Lightly Breaded Baked Eggplant. If you’re an eggplant parmesan fan this is a dish for you. Eggplant coated in buttery, crispy bread crumbs served with a slightly sweet tomato sauce and topped with a bubbly ricotta and mozzarella.

We each enjoyed on entrée on this particular evening – the Fettuccine with Parmesan Crusted Chicken and the Roasted Red Snapper. The Fettuccine was served with peppers, mushrooms and a crispy on the outside, tender on the inside Parmesan crusted chicken. Yum! The Roasted Red Snapper was served skin on and was deliciously flaky. It was served with a saffron broth and a olive, potato, pepper and fennel ragout.

We finished the meal with two desserts, the Old Fashioned Apple Pie and the Chocolate Lava Cake. We LOVE apple pie and this one did not disappoint. A thick slice of sweet apple filling between flaky, buttery crust served in the best possible way, with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. And the Chocolate Lava Cake is a chocolate lovers’ dream. Rich chocolate cake topped with a generous portion of rich chocolate sauce. If you love chocolate you should not pass up this cake.

We really enjoyed this menu and think that you should too if you have the opportunity.
