Disney's Sanaa Lunch Review

Our last to the Walt Disney World Resort was shorter than what we normally do, but we were able to spend time with family and have a lot of fun. We were also able to try a few new restaurants during the trip that we really enjoyed. One of those restaurants was Sanaa.

We had seen Sanaa in a couple of Disney specials on TV and read reviews of it online over the last few years and it had been on our list of places to try since we first heard about it.

Located in the Kadani Village section of Animal Kingdom Lodge Sanaa offers delicious eats with African and Indian flair and a view of the savanna. That’s right, you can watch the animals from your table! Be sure to ask for a table near the windows so that you can dine with a view!

Sanaa means art in Swahili and beautiful art work and proverbs adorn the walls. Be sure to check out all of the various lamps that hang from the ceiling.

Food

Sanaa offers a bread service, that is not complimentary, but is actually an appetizer. Since I would have been eating it by myself I passed on it this time, but it gives us a reason to go back! There are two different options – a choice of five breads and three sauces or five breads with all nine sauces that they have available. All of the tables around us ordered it and it looked great! I can’t wait to fit Sanaa into our plans for our next trip so that we can try it. Keep in mind, that they have a gluten free naan option!

We normally include the dining plan for our Disney World vacation packages, but since we had to rebook our trip after having to cancel due to the hurricane we did not have it this time. With that being said we only tried entrees on this trip, except for Christian since kid’s meals include desserts in the price.

We tried the Kenya Coffee Barbeque Sandwich. Delicious pulled pork with tangy coffee barbecue sauce that are pile into a bun that has been hollowed out. It is served with a refreshing vinegar and root vegetable slaw, zesty, slightly spicing house made potato chips and a pickle spear.

A Potjie Inspired also landed on our table. Guests are given the option of one meat or seafood option and one vegetable option served with Basmati rice. Options include Goan Seafood Curry, Butter Chicken, Braised Beef, or Spicy Durban Shrimp. Harvest - Aloo Masala, Chickpea Wit, Lentil Dhal, Paneer Tikka, or Cilantro-Coconut Vegetables

Christian order the Kid’s Cheeseburger. A meaty cheeseburger served with house made chips and green beans. He also order the Pumbaa’s Dessert Grub. It was like worms and dirt with chocolate pudding, vanilla cream, Oreo crumbles, gummi worms and chocolate candy rocks. He didn’t want the pudding by the time it arrived, but it was delicious!

My sister Sharon got a Specialty Allergy Meal and it was amazing. The chef prepared a dish of rice, onions, corn, Brussel sprouts, broccolini and spiced grilled lamb.

We really enjoyed our time at Sanaa. The food was delicious, the chef and the staff were great, especially with accommodating the allergy needs at our table, and the view of the savanna and the ability to watch the animals while we were eating was a unique experience. We highly recommend Sanaa and we can’t wait to dine there again.
