Redwood Creek Challenge Trail - Disney California Adventure Park

Life has been crazy busy lately – we apologize for having not posted in the last three weeks. We’re back, though, and should be posting once, if not twice or more, a week now. Today we’re going to talk about one of Christian’s favorite places at the Disneyland Resort – Redwood Creek Challenge Trail.

Located across from Grizzly River Run in California Adventure the Challenge Trail I a great place for your little ones to burn off some energy and some of the at delicious Disney food.

When you enter the Challenge Trail you will be given a map of activities that can be done to earn you your Senior Wilderness Explorer badge. Once you complete them, or even if you’re not interested in that portion of the tail, you can still attend the ceremony and meet Russell from Up!

The entire area resembles a California National Park – and while your little ones are playing they and you can learn about national parks around North America, animals, and plants.

There is a lot to do here and there is something for every age group.

Walk across cargo nets and suspension bridges high above the ground – if you’re not interested in climbing up or down the steep cargo nets don’t worry, there are stairs.

Crawl through a moving tire tunnel, swing on a tire swing zip-line or climb rocks. There is a height requirement for the zip-line as well as the rock climbing.

All of the way in the back there are two “rock slides” that are fun for the younger crowd, but don’t worry, there are bigger slides for the bigger kids as well.

There is also a cave that you can walk through and place your hand on the wall to find out what your spirit animal is. Be care here, the lighting in the cave does change and there are some sound effects that could scare kids. Christian isn’t bothered by it, but he was knocked down once by another boy who was about eight who ran out of the cave screaming.

Walk along the paths to see beautiful plants and water features and don’t forget to look down for animal prints. There are also two giant trees, both of which are fake, but are really cool. One is at the very beginning of the trail and you walk through it. The other is larger than life and is great for little ones to run and crawl through – grown-ups will have to duck.

Just like with Goofy’s Playhouse at Disneyland Christian loves to spend some time here every trip. He can climb up and down and walk across the cargo nets if he’s holding a hand, but he loves the giant log, the slides and to run around on the upper level of the tower and to cross the bridge.

Even if you don’t have kids it’s worth the time it takes to just walk around the area. You really should check it out on your next trip to California Adventure Park, especially if you have little ones that just need a few minutes to be free and run around before that next line.

We have lots of pictures of the trail – email us at Miriya.whitaker@gmail.com if you’re interested in seeing any of them and miriyawhitaker@worldofmagictravel.com if you’re interested in planning a trip!
